Another Day

I will be posting this without a photo today. We are just about to the finish line.  A trial run on the vehicle pack just finished and we are taking a much needed break. After much cool weather with rain, heat has returned and that makes this more difficult. However, yesterday, I went to coffee with two of my neighbors and a dear friend from way back came from Saratoga to spend time with us and we enjoyed a meal with her. It was so good to see her and so sad to say “goodbye “ for now.  The moving company sent packers for the art work and dishes and a marble top yesterday.  Final repairs which were minor were done this week and we are just waiting for the fat lady to sing. That will be Tuesday morning. The dogs are at the kennel and we will pick them up on Wednesday.  Don’t know when the next post will be but stay tuned,

Saying Goodbye

Did I mention a dew posts ago that the dogs were a little stressed about the happenings here?  Roger above doesn't appear to be stressed but little Spencer?  That's another story.  We have had quite a bit of thunder with the rain lately and that really bothers Spencer.  He also just is so spoiled that if we aren't on our regular schedule he pouts a bit.  Well, he has had a bit of confusion and just doesn't relax much and it will be that way now for a good time.  Dog Days of Summer has a different meaning.
Yesterday, the Mr. and I were invited to have lunch with some of my quilting buddies.  Little did I know that it was not a few, but literally all except for a couple who were unable to make it.  Spouses even showed up and it so touched me in a way that makes it even more difficult to say "Goodbye".  It has been a great couple of years to have been able to have these gals share their Tuesdays with me at our local library.  Libraries are amazing.  We were allowed to have a large room with access to some comfy chairs and electrical outlets for our machines as well as great light. Quilters have a special bond, but we shared heartaches, new experiences, ideas, trips, as well as support when needed.  I will stay in touch and have asked that they all do the same.  Thankfully I have been given information from one friend with ties to our new home area which will allow me to touch base with a quilter there.  It will no doubt make the transition a little easier and am grateful for the thoughtfulness.  These are a wonderful bunch of gals and I am blessed to have known each and every one of them. "Til we meet again".

Living in a Sea of Boxes

I am finding it difficult to get to this blog.  These pictures were taken a couple of days ago and we have added more.
Spending time packing, labeling and taping has taken its' toll I am afraid. In addition, the rain has been relentless it seems.  The dogs have not been able to go for a walk and it is apparent that they are confused with the unusual activity.  Neighbors have been wanting some time with us and we are so very busy that we cannot find time for them.  We have been blessed with the most wonderful neighbors---they have become good friends and it will be difficult to leave them.

Today we boxed TV's and we do have 4 of them.  Our children make such fun of us as at times because they are in every room and until a few weeks ago we actually had 5.  Everything is going as fast as possible and we have even been visited by the new owners.  Spending a little time with them has reassured us that they will fit in quite well and they have even met our neighbors.  It is obvious that they are anxious to get in as well as our desire to get on the road also to our new adventure.

Tomorrow will bring more packing and all of the other business which which we have to deal with in relocating, but as in the past, it will all happen in time and by our Nation's Birthday on the 4th, we will be saying goodbye to the state that has been our home for 50 years.

The Moving process continues

So for those not privy to all of the happenings in the past few days, here is the scoop. Yesterday, all of the inspections were done. This includes the sewer, electric, plumbing, radon, and the appraisal and perhaps a few I don't even know.  It was a bit of chaos and the experience was much different than any in the past.  Everything appears to be ahead of schedule and so far, no glitches in the process.

We are still packing and our son will be here this week to pick up a few things he would like to have.

We will be leaving our backyard which was still in the evolving stage and the round rocks were gathered in Carbon County out in the Red Desert. On a trek with good friends a few years ago we found an amazing amount of these rocks, rounded by weathering for decades. There were so very many and what a wonder! I love them and will surely find a place for them as the many trips we took with these friends are memories never to be forgotten.
As the Mr. and I hit garage sales last year, one of the $1.00 purchases was an iris plant.  Imagine my surprise yesterday when it opened to this beautiful flower. It will be sad to leave everything, but a new adventure awaits us.  My daughter is a wonderful gardener and I am so looking forward to her expertise as the altitude and terrain will all be a new experience for me.  It appears that we will have about 2 1/2 weeks now until our time here will be over and it has been difficult to say goodbye to friends.  It was a few short weeks ago that we actually made this decision to leave Wyoming, which has been our home for 50 years and quite frankly it has happened faster than we anticipated.  I will keep posting.

Taking a Break

A few short weeks ago, we woke up to this much fluffy stuff on our back deck.  Mother Nature has not been kind to us this spring.  However, the moisture has been such a benefit that what always follows is the result below.  Yesterday, we took a break from the packing and the dogs and the Mr. and I went to Lyons Park and strolled around the lake.  We strayed away from the lake and took a stroll through the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens and marveled at all of the flora and fauna emerging from the earth. The dogs were in heaven with all of the sign posts left by other canines in the grasses and bushes.  The Gardens are the best in the state and the caretakers do a marvelous job.  We noticed that the vegetable gardens are planted and volunteers are working the soil and green sprouts are bursting with the few days of sun and rain that now replaces the snow and cloudy days.
As we walked, we stumbled upon a family of geese. Mama and papa were keeping a watchful eye on these babies and we were allowed to walk along the path so close that we could almost reach down and touch these goslings.  Papa goose, did warn us with a hissing noise, but they did not stray from the lush grasses they were consuming and it was another sign that perhaps all of that snow is gone for a few months.

We will continue to prepare for this move, and today we saw a table with chairs, a loveseat and two recliners leave with one of our neighbors.  The less we have to move, the easier it becomes.
